Axalta Coating Systems joined efforts for the second year in a row with its business partner Daimler to reinforce and leverage its brand positioning in the Freightliner-sponsored Super Copa Telcel tractor-trailer Championship Series 2016, alongside Michel Jourdain, Jr., one of the most popular and recognized Mexican racing drivers. “To Axalta, racing is a sport that reflects teamwork and performance,” explained Jesus Jara, Axalta Mexico’s Director for its business with transportation vehicle customers. “Michel Jourdain exhibits his passion in every race and consistently demonstrates the importance of partnership and risk taking, facing challenges to take top positions. Painting Freightliner tractors with Axalta coatings makes us feel proud of the products and services we offer. Having our team in this championship series reveals both the versatility of Daimler, the brilliant colors of Axalta and the commitment to technology shared by both companies.” The Mexican driver with the most participation in various racing circuits and championships at a national and global level in the history of motorsports, Michel Jourdain has participated in the Indy Car and Champ Car series, as well as in different events and championships in the NASCAR® circuit. Jourdain also has been part of major motorsports events such as the Indianapolis 500. In 2015, Jourdain participated in the Super Copa Telcel Championship Series scoring three victories, four pole positions and six podium finishes in the last six races, finishing second in the championship. “I am so grateful and excited about being part of this project and to work with Axalta again. We have the best people, the support, and the focused mindset to obtain the best result,” Michel highlighted. Axalta’s support of the race includes the display of the company’s branding on specific areas of the tractor which will provide visibility for the Axalta brand during the 13 races of the Super Copa Telcel. The 12 trucks participating in the Super Copa Telcel Championship were manufactured at the Daimler production facility located in Santiago Tianquistenco, Mexico using our technology Imron Elite.
